Publishing House
About us
Labrix is a small independent publishing house whose books and projects open paths to a deeper understanding of ourselves, the world and the connections between them. We believe there are many paths to understanding — words, stories, symbols, play, chance and silence. At the boundary between what we can see and what remains hidden, timeless questions arise: Who are we? Where are we going? We do not believe in simplistic truths or ready-made conclusions. We create space for personal understanding. Every book is made with the awareness that the reader is a co-creator, not merely the recipient of a single correct interpretation. Labrix is a space where the visible meets the invisible, and where the reader becomes not only a reader, but an explorer.

The new Labrix
After a short break, Labrix began a new chapter in 2019. It picked up the thread with updated editions of its key titles and has been gradually widening its publishing plan to include digital formats and books prepared for an international readership.
In December 2025, the English edition of Líla – cesty k sebepoznání (Leela – Paths to Self-Discovery) was published. In spring 2026, Labrix released a new book, Kouzla náhody – synchronicita, znamení a řád skrytý v chaosu (The Magic of Chance – Synchronicity, Signs and the Order Hidden in Chaos), broadening the thematic scope of the catalogue even further. In late 2026, we expect to republish Totemová zvířata (Totem Animals) as an e-book, with an optional set of oracle cards.

03 / History
The beginnings of Labrix
Labrix was founded in 1998 as a natural continuation of the creative collective Líná želva (The Lazy Turtle) — an open community of curious, playful minds drawn to deeper understanding. It was Líná želva that stood behind the 1997 samizdat edition of the game Líla – cesty k sebepoznání, which brought an ancient Indian spiritual game back to life.
From the very start, Labrix has focused on books at the meeting point of play, philosophy, introspection and the study of the role chance plays in human life. Its key titles include Líla, Totemová zvířata and Líla – sebepoznávání jako nekonečná hra.
In cooperation with the Lotus Buddhist Centre, the publishing house has also brought out spiritual literature — among others Učení lotosu (Lotus Teachings) by , Slova mého srdce (Words of My Heart) by the Tibetan master , and, together with the Mezera publishing house, Delog, cesta do říší za hranicemi smrti (Delog: Journey to Realms Beyond Death) by .
